JEDDAH, (PIC)– Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary general of the organization of Islamic conference (OIC), has condemned the recent Israeli decision to build 942 new housing units in occupied Jerusalem.

He charged that the continued Israeli settlement expansion in the holy city constituted an “open war on the Palestinians and their legitimate rights”.

The secretary general in a press release published on the OIC website on Wednesday said that the continued Israeli illegal practices target isolating Jerusalem from its environs.

“Such practices also target creating new facts on the ground through building more settlement units, confiscating land, demolishing homes, expelling Palestinians, and expanding the Judaization process in blatant violation of the international law, UN resolutions and the Geneva Convention.”

Ihsanoglu called on the international quartet committee and the world community to intervene and demand an end to all settlement activity.
