Nablus – PNN – during an overnight raid that ended on Thursday morning the Israeli army arrested 200 men and women from the village of Awarta near the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
“ Troops invaded the village after midnight, the searched homes then took about 200 men and women to a nearby detention center outside Nablus city. They let the women go back but kept about 100 men” Qayes Awad, head of Awarta village council, told PNN.
According to Awad, troops forced people to sign papers written in Hebrew after soldiers took their finger prints as well as DNA samples.
“The army attacks us every night for 28 days now” Awad added. The Israeli army started to target Awarta since an unknown attacker killed a settler family last month in the nearby settlement of Itamar which lies above Awarta village. Settlers and the army accused Palestinians of the attack but did not provide any evidence to support their claims.
Two weeks ago the army arrested 60 men from the village and forced them to give away their finger prints and DNA samples; the men were sent home days later.
