Free Gaza Movement Puts Israel “On Notice”

Today the Free Gaza Movement, one of the chief organizers of the upcoming “Freedom Flotilla” bound for the Gaza Strip, released a press statement from Athens.

ImageOn May 10 two of the movement’s members will go to the European Parliament for meetings with MEPs; they will also meet with the United Nations and other international bodies to present the goals of the Freedom Flotilla.

The movement is calling “on all our governments, the international community and the United Nations not to succumb to Israel’s intimidation.” The statement has also delcared that there will be participants from more than 50 countries on board the ships.

“We are putting Israel on notice…We are coming; We are unarmed; We are civilians; You have no right to threaten us; We expect to reach Gaza without any Interference.”

On Monday, on their most recent visit to Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pleaded with European ambassadors to prevent the pro-Palestinain Freedom Flotilla from reaching Gaza.

The flotilla will depart on the May 31, the anniversary of last year’s killing of nine civilians on the Turkish Mavi Marmara. Free Gaza Movement and other pro-Palestinian groups state that last year’s killing happened with no justification.
