Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — The home of Wadi Hilweh Information Center director Jawad Siyam was raided by Israeli police on Sunday April 10, during which time Siyam was summoned by police to an additional court hearing as part of his ongoing

assault trial.

Prior to the 12pm hearing, Siyam received a call from police summoning him to interrogation at the same time. Upon arrival at the peculiarly scheduled investigation, Siyam was threatened by police with a forced lie detector test in authorities’ hopes of

incriminating Siyam in the slanderous assault charges lodged against him. Siyam was subsequently informed by police of their intention to search his house that day, then finding his requests to contact his lawyer and family denied.

Siyam’s family house was raided while Siyam remained effectively

detained by police investigators, terrifying his already troubled children and wife, who have suffered repeated acts of intimidation at the hands of Israeli forces during numerous raids on the house. Large numbers of Palestinian neighbors and fellow residents of Wadi Hilweh gathered outside the home during the raid in solidarity with Siyam and his family.
