Local sources reported that the Israeli army was present when the settlers carried out their attack but did not intervene or attempt to stop them.

Spokesperson of the Anti-Wall and Settlement Committee, Mohammad Awad, stated that the settlers came from the Bayt Ayin illegal settlement, north of Beit Ummar, and attacked four orchards.

Awad added that the settlers also attacked several farmers and prevented them from tending their orchards and farmlands.

The Israeli army later declared the area a closed military zone preventing the Palestinians from entering it.
