Palestinian Homes in Awarta (Near Itamar) Ransacked by Israeli Security Forces – in pictures

Following the March 11, 2011 massacre of the Fogel family in the West Bank settlement of Itamar, Israeli security forces’ investigation has honed in on the neighboring Palestinian village of Awarta. According to Israeli press reports, the IDF has imposed a curfew, conducted door-to-door searches of every home in home in Awarta, ransacked homes and arrested dozens of residents including over 100 women.

Rabbis for Human Rights’ Occupied Territories Researcher Zacharia Sada visited Awarta this past week and documented some of the destruction left in the wake of home searches and arrests. Zacharia’s exclusive photos:

Rabbis for Human Rights has had a longstanding relationship with many of the farmers in the village of Awarta. During harvest and planting seasons, Rabbis for Human Rights staff members and volunteers have accompanied farmers from Awarta in their fields to bear witness and help protect them from attacks from Israeli settlers in the area.
