OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Israeli police internal investigations department filed an indictment Sunday against two Israeli Border Guard officers for aggravated abuse and assault of a 17-year-old Palestinian, the Israeli daily Ynet reported.

According to the indictment, officers Yishai Ben Ozeri and Shani Sivilya held the victim at a Jerusalem checkpoint about a year ago and found three fireworks in his possession after conducting a search on his body. Ben Ozeri then took the victim behind a nearby bus and assaulted him for no apparent reason.

The indictment also says that Ben Ozeri handcuffed the victim and turned him over to Sivilya and another officer to be transported to the police station. The female suspect Sivilya reportedly painfully tightened the cuffs, and when the three arrived at the station, she began beating him after blindfolding him and pointing her gun at his head. She threatened: ”Ten seconds and you’re dead,” and then began counting down. The victim pleaded: ”No, no”. When she got down to one, she pulled the trigger, but the gun was unloaded.

The assailant then proceeded to place one of the fireworks found on the victim in his pocket and tried to scare him by making him believe that she was lighting it.

The indictment has classed the act as racially motivated, as the officer was quoted as saying: “Death to Arabs”, as the incident progressed.

A third officer present at the scene has also been indicted for being present during the incident.
