Israeli Forces Open Fire at International Activists in Gaza

BEIT HANOUN, May 10, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Tuesday opened fire at international activists and Palestinians protesting Israel’s establishment of a buffer zone in northern Gaza Strip, according to local sources. No one was hurt.

The peaceful demonstration came in response to Israeli measures in Gaza and in commemoration of Nakba day, when Palestinians mark their dispossession from their homes and land in Palestine, which later became to be known as Israel.

The protesters along with international activists headed toward the buffer zone in northern Gaza to defy an Israeli military order creating a security buffer zone within territory considered as agricultural area. The protestors hung Palestinian flags near the separation fence.

The Israeli forces opened fire directly at the protesters, but it did not stop them from continuing with their weekly demonstration.
