IPS isolates eight Palestinian prisoners in Askalan

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Israeli prison service (IPS) moved eight Palestinian prisoners in Askalan jail to solitary confinement as a punishment for waging a hunger strike late last month, Palestinian sources said on Thursday.

The sources said that the IPS imposed a series of punishments against the prisoners in Askalan including visit deprivation for one month, ban on purchase of vegetables and meat from the prison cantina for two months, and a halt to entry of new clothes to the prisoners.

The sources added that the penal measures were taken to punish the prisoners for going on hunger strike for four days late last April in solidarity with prisoners in solitary confinement.
