GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — A delegation of 80 Italian peace activists arrived in Gaza on Thursday.

They were friends of late Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni, who was murdered in Gaza last month.

The delegation is scheduled to visit the coastal enclave for several days.

They will tour areas destroyed during Operation Cast Lead and meet Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh.

Arrigoni, 36, was a long-time member of the International Solidarity Movement and had been living and working in the Gaza Strip for much of the past three years.

A previously unknown radical group claimed responsibility for his kidnapping. Hamas security forces found his body shortly afterwards in an abandoned house in northern Gaza.

Two suspects were killed in a raid in central Gaza but one remains in custody.
