Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili says Palestinians marked the second chapter of Islamic Awakening on the Day of Nakba (catastrophe).

Jalili said the uprising of Palestinian refugees in neighboring countries paved the road for the return of the in-exile Palestinian community and the ouster of the Zionist regime from the occupied territories.

The National Security Council secretary made the remarks in a meeting with Cairo-based scholar and writer on Islamic affairs Fahmi Howeidi in Tehran on Monday.

Howeidi for his part said support for the Palestinian people and resistance against US and Zionist policies in the region were among the top values of the Egyptian nation.

Thousands of Palestinians marked the 63rd anniversary of the Day of Nakba on Sunday, protesting the Israeli occupation of their homeland on May 15, 1948.

Israeli soldiers wiped nearly 500 Palestinian villages and towns off the map, leaving an estimated total of 4.7 million Palestinian refugees and their descendants dreaming of an eventual return to their ancestral homeland more than six decades later.
