Palestinian detained, five injured in Silwan

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Israeli occupation police forces assaulted inhabitants in Silwan town, south of the Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem , using pepper bombs, eyewitnesses said.

They added that the policemen engaged in clashes with youths who threw stones at them, adding that the policemen fired pepper bombs at onlookers one of them a 47-year-old man was treated for breathing difficulty and his son was detained after being beaten. Four others including a photographer working for Wadi Halawa data center called Ahmed Siyam were hurt in the assault.

Jawad Siyam, the director of the data center, said that a couple of days earlier an Israeli policeman attacked a member of Wadi Halawa suburb committee after asking for his ID.

The young man could not walk easily due a past injury in his legs after a Jewish settler fired at him a year and half ago.

Siyam said that the youth fainted and the policemen, who rushed to the scene, refused to allow an ambulance to transport him to hospital.
