KUALA LUMPUR, (PIC)– Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak expressed his firm support for the Palestinians as top Palestinian legislator visited Malaysia on Thursday.
The Palestinian Legislative Council delegation included Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the PLC deputy speaker.
PM Abdul Razak highlighted that Malaysia’s support for the Palestinians is not only political but also moral and financial.
Despite a political rainbow in Malaysia, Abdul Razak explained that all parties as well as government and non-government organizations and the people support issues pertaining to the Palestinians; such as the right of return, self-determination, liberation, and independence.
The Malaysian premier has personally shared his views on Palestine while touring several states in Europe and the West. Most recently, he gave a speech at Oxford University a few weeks ago on the Palestinian refugees’ right of return and the Jerusalem Judaization crisis.
The PM congratulated the Palestinians on the national unity deal signed by factions ruling the split territories, calling it a step forward. But he warned that Israel, which he said does not want progress in the peace process, let alone Palestinian unity, would try and create ways to sly out of political obligations.
Advising the delegation of lawmakers, he called on the Palestinians to think deeply about the future, emphasizing the need to develop a strong economy in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
During the events, Bahar presented to the Malaysian Prime Minister a PLC medal in his honor and gave him an official invitation to the Strip.
The Malaysian government backed a recent Gaza aid ship that was stopped midway by Israeli forces.
