IAWM to protest Israeli siege on Gaza

The Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM) has urged British people to take part in the upcoming “End the Siege on Gaza” demonstration, to support an Irish aid ship to the Gaza Strip and the second Freedom Flotilla.

The IAWM leaders asked the people to participate in the public demonstration on June 28 to show their opposition to the daily human rights abuses against Palestinians. They will march to the Israeli embassy and demand an end to the crippling siege, and protest against the Palestinians’ poverty brought about under the Israeli occupation.

On June 28, the Freedom Flotilla II, including the Irish ship, will sail to the coastal sliver with basic supplies and equipment for the impoverished enclave.

The goal of the Freedom Flotilla II is to once again challenge the Israeli siege on Gaza and attract the world’s attention on the Palestinian issue.

Pro-Palestinian groups across the world have staged series of demonstrations, condemning the siege of Gaza.

Over the past years, several international groups have attempted to break the siege of Gaza by sea and by land.

More than 1.5 million Palestinians are currently living under the harsh Israeli siege, imposed on the coastal enclave since 2007.

The siege has caused a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip where many Palestinians are suffering from unemployment and poverty.
