GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas leader Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil has said that his movement would not accept the nomination of Salam Fayyad, current premier of the illegitimate government in Ramallah, as premier or even a minister in the new unity government.

Bardawil would not comment on media reports that Fatah faction would nominate Fayyad as its candidate for premier in the unity government.

“We do not comment on such media leaks, but it is a sure thing that we will not accept Fayyad as premier or minister. Four years of siege, arrest and torture of Hamas cadres, were linked to Fayyad, who is also responsible for the debts that accumulated on the Palestinian people,” Bardawil elaborated.

The Hamas leader said that reconciliation is a strategic objective for his movement, “but there are red lines that we cannot cross including that the new government should not include any member who could provoke or harm the Palestinian people”.

Hamas and Fatah representatives are slated to meet in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss formation of the new government, end of political detention, and restructuring the PLO in addition to other pending issues.
