COLOGNE, Germany (Ma’an) — The Palestinian community in Germany organized a workshop on Monday in Cologne to voice support for Palestinian political reconciliation.

The workshop was organized in cooperation with European associations and aimed to promote solidarity and understanding of the Palestinian cause.

Human rights activists from across Europe attended the workshop, together with Palestinian activists Muhammad Zubeidi and Muhammad Qaddura from the northern West Bank.

Zubeidi, a former militant with Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Brigades, told Ma’an that the workshop was one of many events aimed at developing a Palestinian lobby in Europe. He noted that a similar conference was held in Liege, Belgium two months ago.

The meeting comes as Palestinian and Israeli officials push forward with diplomatic efforts to secure support for their own position as Palestinians prepare to seek a spot in the UN, along with recognition of statehood on the 1967 borders.
