KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) — Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) under the Life Line for Gaza (LL4G) will join more than 600 NGOs from various countries in a humanitarian mission, the International Freedom Flotilla 11″, to Gaza end of this month.

The founder and president of LL4G, Dr Noorazman Mohd Shamsuddin, said 13 vessels, comprising 10 passenger ships and three cargo ships, would sail to Gaza in the mission.

“The flottila will be led by the NGOs from Greece, Spain and Ireland, and will be even bigger than the one last year.

“It is also supported by Malaysia and Turkey,” he told a media conference at the launch of the LL4G team for the flotilla to Gaza here Tuesday.

He said last Friday, a ship departed Scotland and will meet other ships of the flottila at a rendezvous point in the Mediterranean Sea on June 27 or 28.

“We expect more than 1,000 volunteers to be involved in this flottila,” he added.

Dr Noorazman said 10 volunteers from Malaysia, comprising parliamentary members and representatives from the media, would participate in the aid mission and they were scheduled to leave for Gaza on June 24.

He said about RM450,000 had been raised and another RM300,000 was still needed to obtain the necessary equipment to help reconstruct the various facilities in Gaza.

He said contributions can be made through Maybank Berhad under the name Muslim Care (Viva Palestine) at account number 564490211159.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is schedule to flag off the LL4G team this Saturday at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
