NABLUS, (PIC)– The Ahrar center for prisoners’ studies and human rights has called on the World Health Organization (WHO) and its chairperson to swiftly intervene and solve the medicine crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Fuad Al-Khafsh, the director of the center, said in a statement on Wednesday that news about the crisis in Gaza point to an approaching medical tragedy, which should be averted with all means possible.

He said that meeting the people’s medical needs is one of the basic human rights, adding that the universal declaration for human right stipulates that each and every person is entitled to a certain living standard that guarantees good health and welfare for him and for his family.

All concerned international laws stipulate the right of each and every human being to proper health care, he said, adding that the world community in general and WHO in particular are responsible for providing medication in such a condition of acute shortage.
