ISTANBUL, (PIC)– Hamas political bureau chairman Khaled Mishaal conferred in Istanbul on Wednesday with Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu and other officials soon after his arrival.

A senior diplomat told the AFP that Mishaal discussed with the Turkish officials the Palestinian reconciliation agreement and Palestinian and regional developments. He said that the Hamas leader would leave Turkey later today.

The NTV station said that Mishaal’s visit coincides with that of PA chief and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to Turkey. However, there is no scheduled meeting between the two, it added.

Turkey was heavily involved over the past few months in forging reconciliation between the two rival factions and was particularly concerned after they failed to meet as scheduled yesterday in Cairo in the presence of both Mishaal and Abbas to agree on the national unity government’s formation and after the controversial statements for Abbas about that government.
