First Publication of Palestinian Media Affairs Magazine – MADA El-E’lam – incl Link 2 PDF


27.06.11 – 11:55 Ramallah – PNN – A first issue of a new bi-monthly magazine called MADA El-E’lam has been published this week by The Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA).

MADA El-E’lam becomes the first specific magazine focussed on Palestinian media affairs, helping to fill the information vacuum in this area within past decades.

The magazine will comprise of collecting and circulating news collaborated from local, Arab and International media, as well as providing informative articles and opinion, offering deeper insight for readers. Topics covered in the first publication include: ‘Israeli compensation law: encouraging attacks against journalists’ and ‘From Tunisia to Syria: Media affects and Arab revolutions’. An interview is also included with Al-Jazeera program director Aref Hijawi.

Editing director of MADA El-E’lam, Mousa Rimawi, expressed in the opening article his high hopes that the magazine will become a vital resource for journalists as well as highlighting existing problems in Palestinian media.

Rimawi also made clear his sincere thanks to all the contributors to this first publication and welcomed contributions from journalists and writers to ensuing issues. A special thanks was also reserved for the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), given its support in helping to set-up the magazine.

MADA El-E’lam will be circulated freely to journalists, media, governmental and civil society organisations and in public libraries in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Editor in Chief, Ghazi Bani Odeh added that MADA El-E’lam would also be available online, so that interested persons inside and outside of the Palestinian territories would be able to access the magazine.
