Bardawil: Resistance forces dictate prisoner exchange conditions

GAZA, (PIC)– Senior Hamas official Salah al-Bardawil has called for increasing efforts to see the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

The call comes in response to tightened measures taken by Israeli officials against the prisoners in a bid to circumvent a prisoner exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was captured in the Gaza Strip. The call came during a solidarity stand staged by Hamas for the seven of its leaders who were recently placed in solitary confinement as part of the tightened measures. The isolated prisoners include the most senior Hamas prisoner Yehya al-Sinwar.

Bardawil said that the conditions dictated by resistance forces and Shalit captors for the prisoner trade-off will take place, adding that Israel’s interest in one prisoner does not exceed the interest of thousands of Palestinian prisoners and their families.

The Hamas leader also sent a message to Israel, saying that the “era of deception” ended a long time ago, and “say belongs to the resistance, which knows the shortest way to free the prisoners.”

Also during the event, Zakaria al-Sinwar called on Egypt not to free Israel spy Ilan Grapel, but rather to use him in order to pressure Israel into a prisoner swap.
