The wounded resident, identified as Bassem Mousa Al Khateeb, 18, suffered mild injuries.

The settlers were near the Homesh former settlement that was evacuated by Israel in the summer of 2005, close to the Sielet Al Thaher town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Kamal Abu Awwad, correspondent of the Maan News Agency, reported that as Al Khateeb, and three other Palestinians, were driving near the evacuated settlement when one settler, disguised as a local, approached their car, pretending to seek help.

When the residents stepped out of the car, a group of armed settlers, hiding nearby, chased them and started hurling stones at them while cocking their automatic rifles, pointing them at their heads, threatening to kill them.

The first rock hurled by one of the settlers struck Al Khateeb in his head, Maan reported, he was moved to the Jenin governmental hospital.

Since Israel evacuated the illegal settlement in 2005, the settlers repeatedly went back there, tried to “reclaim the land” although they are privately owned by the Palestinians.
