Palestinian businessmen ask for European pressure to end Gaza siege

GAZA, (PIC)– A delegation of the Palestinian businessmen society in Gaza asked representatives of European Union’s Palestine office to pressure Israel into ending its siege of Gaza and opening all commercial crossings.

The discussion on Saturday tackled means of reconstructing Gaza and hindrances impeding reconstruction. The delegates emphasized the urgent need for allowing entry of construction material.

Nabil Abu Muaylik, the chairman of the society, said that Gaza Strip is in need of 60,000 new apartments annually, noting that 18000 couples wed each year in the Strip.

The delegates asked for an unequivocal European political stand in support of just and comprehensive peace especially in light of the UN September vote on a Palestinian state.

They also asked for more scholarships, and training courses for various economic sectors in the Strip in addition to extending urgent aid to victims of the Israeli war on Gaza.
