MP Fuqaha: Oslo Accords ”unjust to the Palestinians”

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Palestinian Legislative Council member Abdul-Jabir Fuqaha (Nablus) has said that Israel’s threats to rescind the Oslo Accords reflects Israel’s degradation of the Palestinians who negotiated with it and signed the accords.

Fuqaha argued that the Oslo Accords were ”unjust to the Palestinians” and ”did not earn the Palestinians even the lowest level of their rights and did not even give hope of achieving an independent and sovereign state with boundaries”.

”Therefore the [Israeli] leadership has declared an end to [the accords] more than once. But they do not put to practice what they say, because their security very significantly depends on it,” Fugaha said on Tuesday.

”Since its signing, the Oslo Accords were built on a basis of security, and the Zionist entity (Israel) is the sole beneficiary, and were implemented by the Palestinians alone […] The clearest sign of that is the continuance of security coordination between Palestinian security institutions and their Zionist counterparts,” Fuqaha went on to say.

Israel is considering annulling the Oslo Accords in response to the Palestinian Authority’s plans to ask the United Nations to recognize it as a state based on 1967 borders.
