Al-Mezan 2-year Ranged Report: “Israel” Used Cruel, Inhuman Treatment against Gazans

Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights issued on Wednesday a report on the torture and other forms of cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip by the “Israeli” occupation forces (IOF).

In this documentation of the human rights violations in the Gaza Strip, al-Mezan center indicated that the IOF used torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment against the Palestinians of Gaza during the 2-year period covered in the report.

Furthermore, the report also added that inside the occupied territories, there is a prevalent reality of impunity that hinders justice and sanctions torture, proving a complete violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.
Throughout the period covering the documentation, al-Mezan center revealed that the IOF continued to arrest Palestinians, including children, patients, fishermen, and rubble collectors and other civilians close to the border fence. The report further affirms that the detained Palestinians were later subject to interrogation under torture in inhumane circumstances.

Moreover, al-Mezan report added that the policies which were used to maintain the blockade resulted in cases of cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment against Palestinians. In this context, the report documented incidents among which where patients seeking life-saving treatment outside the Gaza Strip, and were denied entry to the occupied territories. Incidents documented also include those that caused severe pain and suffering to victims; like the denial of humanitarian access and ill-treatment of civilians.

The al-Mezan Center report also included numbers and statistics in its findings, highlighting the huge numbers of Palestinians attacked, killed, or detained in Gaza within the 2-year period covered by its recent report.

On another hand, al-Mezan report urged the international community to act and exert pressure on the “Israeli” enemy to abolish its torture and cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment and comply with legal obligations on the level of human rights violations.
