Bethlehem – PNN – Israeli Police and Shin Bet security sources gave twelve West Bank settlers restraining orders on Monday, according to Ha’aretz.
The settlers, residents of the Yitzhar settlement near Nablus, are alleged to have carried out arson attacks against Palestinian mosques, vehicles and property over the past two years, endangering human lives and disrupting public order.
Ten of the orders prevent the recipients concerned from entering any part of the West Bank and will last from six months to one year. The remaining two only prohibit entry to Yitzhar itself.
However, the Israeli newspaper claims that Shin Bet has had access to the intelligence since last year. The agency only decided to act after the recent wave of violence in July, despite the fact that some of the individuals involved had received restraining orders before.
