AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority banned the Athan (call for prayer) from the Ibrahimi mosque 52-times during the month of July.

Director of the Islamic Awkaf department in the district of al-Khalil, Zaid al-Ja’bari, said on Thursday that the Israeli occupation bans the Athan often on the pretext that it disturbs Jews visiting the usurped part of the mosque, stressing that escalation of such measures aim to eventually take over the rest of the mosque.

Meanwhile, IOF troops stepped up security measures at all entrances leading to the city of al-Khalil on Thursday night.

Local sources reported that IOF troops setup roadblocks at the southern entrances to the city near the settlement of Hajai and at the entrances from villages west of the city and on the bypass road to the east and south. Cars were stopped and thoroughly searched.
