RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained Samer Allawi, Al-Jazeera TV network’s correspondent in Afghanistan, while leaving the West Bank en route to Jordan.

Well informed local sources said that Allawi, who was travelling from his home village of Sabastiya, was detained at Al-Karame Bridge between the West Bank and Jordan on Tuesday.

They said that Allawi was interrogated for several hours before being taken into custody for security reasons as announced by the Israeli authorities at the bridge.

Allawi entered the West Bank a few weeks ago on his annual vacation, which he usually spends in his village, and was not interrogated on his entry into the West Bank.

Meanwhile, the IOF soldiers rounded up five Palestinians in Al-Khalil at dawn Wednesday, one from the city itself, two minors from Arub refugee camp, and one from each of Saeer and Edhna villages.
