GAZA, (PIC)– Condemnation has abounded among Palestinians after the U.S.’s new ambassador to Israel confirmed his country’s commitment to Israel’s security during a recent visit to the occupied territories.
Where is the Palestinians’ entitlement to security from the life- and security-threatening Zionist machine? the Gaza Ministry of Justice wondered in a statement.
The statement by the ambassador, Daniel Shapiro, comes as the U.S. is dealing with its own financial crisis.
The Ministry of Justice pointed out the new ambassador’s bias, saying he kept silent about recent air strikes over the past three days that injured dozens, including children and women, as well as other ongoing violations.
The ministry reiterated that the Palestinians are the indigenous people of the land and deserve to live in security like other peoples of the world.
In addition, Palestinian political analyst Mustafa al-Sawwaf, said that the ambassador’s statement confirms statements by President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that Israel’s security is one of the U.S.’s top priorities.
He added that not only is the U.S. biased, but it also has completely adopted Zionist views, naming the Zionist lobby in America as the cause of this.
Meanwhile, Israeli political sources hinted that the U.S. could decline its support to the Palestinian Authority on all levels in response to any moves by the PA to obtain recognition of a Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with the United Nations.
Israeli Radio reported Sunday, quoting the sources, that any unilateral steps by the Palestinians with the UN could harm the U.S.’s support of the PA.
