#DissolveThePA ~ by Yasir M. Tineh

PA stands for Palestinian Authority, The legislative body currently governing the West Bank.

Headed by Mahmoud Abbas the PA is recognized as the government in control of Palestinian security and civilian affairs. The PA is considered by many of not being an independant Palestinian force but rather just another proxy of Israeli authoritarian control.

Since the death of Yasser Arafat, the PA election were held in 2006 under the supervision of the United States where Hamas won the elections in what Jimmy Carter called “The only fair elections to ever take place in the Middle East” but due to Hamas international status as a “terrorist” organisation, The PLO refused to adhere to the election causing the {Battle of Gaza} in which Hamas had to forcefully take control of the Gaza strip and assume authority of the administrative positions held by the PA ensuing the Gaza siege which was imposed by Israel as a form of blockade to overthrow Hamas and weaken their power indirectly by collectively punishing the Gaza population which consists of roughly just a little bit over 1.5 million civilians.

It should also be noted that Diaspora Palestinians and Palestinians living inside Israel are not allowed to vote in the PA elections, The PA’s legal status is still not defined as it were supposed to be concluded within five years from the Gaza-Jericho agreement, yet Western governments will only recognize the PA as the government of the Palestinian people with Mahmoud Abbas as the legitimate president of Palestinians.

Since it’s inception the PA has lost ground substantially as a trustworthy governing body among Palestinians, it’s initial ideology stemmed from the call for its creation which was detailed in the Oslo Accords, something that most Palestinians despise due to the limitation and restriction it enlisted for any future government of Palestine & any state of Palestine, going against Yasser Arafat initial proclamations of a One-State solution as the Oslo Accords were an evident acknowledgement of the future imposition of the Two-State solution which many Palestinians now reject due to its dwindling reality and perceived weakness.

The PA has become strongly complicit in white-washing Israeli Apartheid sitting at the negotiations table with Israel for more than two decades while we lost power both politically and physically, The Palestine Papers released by AlJazeera further went to list a horrendous amount of collaborative evidence between the Israeli authorities and the PA, ranging from the prior knowledge of the PA of operation Cast Lead to agreements regarding the Right Of Return of Palestinians.

The PA now plans on going to September to file a unilateral decalaration of Independence for a Palestinian state residing across the 1967 borders, neglecting the fact that Israel has no intention of removing any settlements in the West Bank and their well known behavior regarding Jerusalem being the full undivided capital of the Zionist state, Making it evident that what the PA intend to do is nothing for the benefit of Palestine but midst the loss of support they are hoping to trick the Palestinian people into regaining their trust and empowering them politically again.

Abbas has even called for the so called “Palestinian State” to be secured under NATO and supervised by the United States, a rather bias ally of Israel. The PA relies on 90% of its income on foreign aid not national income shining the light of reality on their actual weakness, they have become a pawn in Israel’s hands.

Consider this the PA has fully recognized Israel’s right to exist, they have agreed to form a demilitarized state, the West Bank remains occupied, The leaders of the PA are business suppliers in helping construct the Apartheid wall, their legal status of definition is overdue by 15+ years, they have made compensations in the Right Of Return, They lost the last legislative elections, they have lost vision, they follow commands from Israeli leadership, they have helped oppress non-violent protests aimed at the occupation, they have imprisoned Palestinians for political crimes, they are a dictatorial regime.

Palestine needs a revolution.
