MP Abu Ras: Arab silence to blame for violation of holy sites

NABLUS, (PIC)– Palestinian MP Marwan Abu Ras (Hamas) said Arab silence was to blame for measures the Israeli occupation authorities have taken against Muslim worshipers in the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank.

“The excessiveness in criminal practices reflects ugly intentions by the [Israeli] occupation for an escalation against the people, the holy sites in particular,” Abu Ras said in a statement on Monday, referring to the string of attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and ongoing Judaizaiton of Jerusalem by the Israeli authorities and Jewish settlers.

Abu Ras also criticized the Palestinian Authority’s role in preserving the holy sites and protecting the Palestinians.

“Where is the role of the PA and the security forces, and where is the alleged Palestinian government in the West Bank, and where is the president who meets with [Israeli President] Peres and others, with regard to these steps,” Abu Ras said, encouraging the Fatah party, which runs the West Bank to reinstate the resistance program and once again support the Palestinian popular revolution against the Israeli occupation.

In the statement, the MP also called on all Muslims to make the Palestinian cause a priority.

“There must be special care for Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil, and the rest of the holy sites,” he said, recommending the use of the media to deal with the issues of Israel’s blockades on Palestinian cities and the apartheid wall.

He also called on Arab and Muslim governments to boycott Israel and take a decisive stance against normalizing relations with Israel and to retract the Arab Initiative in response to Israel’s repeated crimes against the Palestinian holy sites.
