CAIRO, (PIC)– The Miles of Smiles aid convoy arrived Monday afternoon at the northern Sinai district on its way to the Gaza Strip which has been reeling under an oppressive siege for the fifth year running, with the hope to enter the Gaza Strip on Eid day.

Egyptian sources said that the convoy that has been dubbed the “Border Martyrs Convoy” in reference to the Egyptian soldiers who were killed by the Israeli occupation on the borders between Egypt and 1948-occupied Palestine has reached northern Sianai on its way to the Rafah border crossing.

About on hundred Arab and international solidarity activists are participating in the aid convoy.

Dr. Isam Yousuf, coordinator of Miles of Smiles4 which carried aid to the Gaza Strip, said at the time that there would be three more siege-busting convoys over the following three months, one of them at the end of Ramadan, a second between the two Eids and a third on Eid al-Adha. This one is the first of the three promised convoys.
