OSLO, (PIC)– UFree, the European Network to Support Rights of Palestinian Prisoners, has called on the Israeli occupation to immediately release the Palestinian Aljazeera TV journalist – arrested earlier this month whilst leaving the West Bank.

Forty-six year old Samer Allawi was arrested whilst crossing the Allenby Bridge back to Jordan, after visiting family in the village of Sebastia, Nablus. He was then transferred to the Jalama interrogation center in Haifa, where he was initially held for 96 hours, and has been detained ever since.

UFree holds the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the life of the Al-Jazeera journalist, “we note the testimonies from released prisoners that Palestinians are subjected to severe torture during interrogation.”

UFree calls on all human rights activists and NGOs to join its campaign to release Samer Allawi and to speak out against the Israeli violations of the Palestinians’ freedom of expression and right of free movement.
