Here comes September! ~ by @YasirTineh

Here comes September, the long awaited month in the eyes of Palestinians everywhere, within Palestine itself, displaced in refugee camps and scattered across the globe as part of the yearning for home diaspora Palestinians.

We await without having a say in the matter of the Palestinian bid for statehood, we await to unknown consequences while battling our own-selves and others disputing the validity of such a move.

The 20th of this month will be a turning point in Palestinian history, yet it seems that Palestinians themselves can’t assess the damages of asking for State-Hood neither can they celebrate any foreseen advantages to State-Hood. We all as Palestinians have dreamt of the day we have our country again, recognized by the masses and the International Community, but I’m left to ponder is this the state I have dreamt of, is this the state Palestinians in refugee camps and around the occupied territories have longed for.

The Palestinian bid for State-Hood recognition is centred around the concept of accepting the existence of the state of Palestine with its borders outlined by the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. A move that would further empower the non-existent ideology of

a Two-State solution as a form of conflict resolution. A country for Palestinians sliced out

of 22% of Historical Palestine and a country for the Zionists with the remaining 78% of Historical Palestine. A Palestinian state made up of Gaza and the West-Bank while in reality on the map this is deemed impossible with each of the two located on either side of Palestine, not connected in any way, shape or form and while settlements continue to be built in-between them deeming any connection non-viable.

Yet the PA is persistent is pursuing the bid, trying to convince and deceive Palestinians that this would be a move towards the a flourishing and blossoming Palestinian state, an independent Palestine that we have always dreamed of, but they fail to state the obvious.

What will happen to the Right of Return? The PA’s “economy” will not be able to handle any influx of Palestinian refugee’s wishing to return to their lands. What will happen to Palestinian living within the 1948 lines as “citizens” of Israel, will they continue to suffer under the Apartheid regime and no-longer be a spike in the throat of the PA. What will happen to the 63+ years of resistance aimed at fully restoring Palestine to the Palestinians and revoking the existence of the Zionist Apartheid regime.

Palestinians may have started their fight to regain what they lost, from land to memories and souls, but we continue to fight not just for the freedom of Palestine but we continue to fight because we have seen oppression and we have seen injustice, Israel is our enemy but not just because it occupies our land, our homes and kills our civilians but because it represents apartheid, oppression and injustice. Our fight doesn’t revolve just around a country that is suffering and that has been thrown in the casket many times, our fight is about humanity, ethics and morals. It is about understanding that freedom should be give to all and granted by all. As a Palestinian with or without a state, I will always continue to resist the existence of Zionism and Apartheid because I know what they represent first hand.

Forever the fight will continue until Palestine is truly free & the World is free of injustice. A Palestinian state won’t change that because the “Palestinian state” we will be granted is not Palestine and will never really be the Palestine we lost and long for.
