RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Dozens joined a sit-in Monday noon outside of the Israeli Ofer prison near Ramallah/Baituniya in the occupied West Bank as Israeli occupation authorities continue to hold four Palestinian reporters.

Among the protesters were Palestinian and foreign reporters, senior officials from Palestinian factions, representatives from the Palestinian Prisoner Society, rights groups, and news syndicates.

Participants raised placcards with pictures of head of Al-Jazeera’s Afghanistan bureau Samer Allawi, who was arrested two weeks ago, as well as three other Palestinian reporters still being held in the Israeli prisons.

Al-Jazeera’s Palestinian bureau head Walid al-Omari, who joined the sit-in, called on the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately release the Palestinian reporters, describing their arrest as a violation of international law.

PPS head Kaddura Faris, who spoke outside of the main gates of the Ofer prison where the reporters are being prosecuted, stated that Israel persecutes every Palestinian – whether reporter or not – who opposes the occupation.
