According to Al-Malki, Palestinians will participate in a meeting with the Arab peace follow-up committee in Cairo next Monday. The meeting is designed to prepare for the Palestinian leadership’s request for Palestine’s full membership in the UN.

In an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio on Wednesday, Al-Maliki said that Palestine will participate in a regular session of the Arab Foreign Minister’s Council in Cairo on Sept. 13. According to Al-Maliki, Palestine plans to chair the session, along with the meetings of the Arab group in the UN for the next six months.

The Foreign Minister also said that the Palestinian delegation will leave for New York on September 16 to prepare for the next session of the General Assembly of the UN.  He stated that “the delegation plans to meet with several foreign ministers from a number of countries in attempt to persuade them to vote for a full membership of the State of Palestine.”
