QALQILIYA (Ma’an) — Israeli forces raided a village near Qalqiliya and placed checkpoints on roads leading to it, locals said.

Witnesses said soldiers were stopping residents from traveling through Kafr Qaddum village.

Murad Eshtewy, a Fatah spokesman in Qalqiliya, said Israel’s “repressive measures have escalated against Kafr Qaddum and other Palestinian villages in the past days, especially near settlements.”

He added that since the village started to hold a weekly demonstration demanding to open the road that was closed nine years ago, soldiers have raided the village and handed out orders to see Israeli intelligence.

In September, Israeli forces launched a series of arrest raids on the Qalqiliya area.
