An Israeli soldier fires tear gas at Palestinian protesters trying to prevent the demolition of a house in the West Bank town of Beit Kahil, October 6, 2011.
Clashes have broken out between Palestinians and Israeli troops demolishing a structure in a town northwest of the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

The incident occurred on Thursday when Israeli soldiers imposed a curfew to prevent Palestinians from reaching the property in the village of Beit Kahil.

The soldiers then fired tear gas and stun grenades at stone-throwing Palestinians who moved to prevent the demolition.

Israel claimed its forces demolished a water pool that was built without permits.

But the Palestinian whose house was bulldozed said Israeli troops attacked and beat up his family members before pulling down the facility.

Palestine’s WAFA news agency said the Israeli forces also uprooted a number of olive trees, destroyed a nearby road and damaged a number of adjacent walls.

Israeli soldiers also demolished houses, barns and barracks belonging to Palestinian shepherds in Wadi al-Maleh and al-Hamma areas in the northern Jordan Valley as the shepherds were preparing to head towards the fields.
