The prisoners’ children gathered in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross office in Gaza city, and demanded their right to visit their fathers. Most of them have not seen their families since September 2007, when Israel declared the strip a hostile entity.
There are over 60000 Palestinian Political prisoners and detainees held in Israeli jails some of whom spent over 25 years behind bars.
Palestinian prisoners are on hunger strike to protest the solitary confinement of some of their fellow inmates, including the leader of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The punitive measures especially the policy of solitary confinement practiced by the Israel Prison Service drew a wide condemnations from across the occupied Palestinian territories. The prisoners center study called on international and humanitarian organizations to put pressure on Israel to uphold prisoners rights and respond to their demands.
Prisoners are demanding that Israeli authorities end solitary confinement and collective punishment, and stop humiliating inspections and the practice of chaining detainees during visits by their lawyers.
