Reports from Israel allege that large financial rewards are being offered for anyone who murders some of the ex-prisoners freed as part of the exchange deal struck between the Israeli government and Hamas. The Israeli media claims that a number of radical Jews who lost family members in attacks by Palestinians resisting Israel’s military occupation have announced the formation of “Eye for an Eye”, an organisation with the objective of hunting down and murdering former Palestinian prisoners.
An extremist Zionist group and a Jewish family have offered $200,000 as a financial incentive for the murder of released Palestinian prisoners who had been in jail for their role in an operation in which four settlers were killed.
According to the “7 Settlers” website, a meeting was held in the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement near Hebron in the occupied West Bank during which a $100,000 bounty was placed on the head of ex-prisoner Mostafa Moslimani from Tubas. Moslimani was charged with killing Rabbi Binyamin Kahane and his wife. Kahane was the son of Rabbi Meir Kahane, known for his extreme anti-Arab views to the extent that his organisation Kach was banned by Israel and listed as a terrorist group by the USA. The meeting was attended by activists from the Jewish Defence League and Kach. Illegal settler Baruch Marzel will be in charge of judging whether any person claiming to have murdered Moslimani deserves the reward or not.
It has also been reported that the family of Shlomo Liebman, a settler killed in the illegal settlement of Yitzhar 13 years ago, has offered a reward of $100,000 for the killings of freed prisoners Khwailed Ramadan and Nizar Ramadan. The two Palestinians were part of the group released by Israel this week.
