TULKAREM, (PIC)– Fathi Qar’awi, member of the PLC, stressed that the positive atmosphere created by the release of Palestinian captives from occupation jails should be utilised to expedite the implementation of the national reconciliation agreement.

In a special interview with the PIC Qar’awi said that the release of the captives and the celebrations that followed strengthened the spirit of national unity and this should be built on.

Asked whether this “spirit of unity” was superficial, he said: “What happened is genuine to the Palestinian people, because unity is something deep-rooted in Palestinian society. Other things that are happening such as political arrests and repression are dissonant.”

He criticised the continuation with political arrests by the PA security forces, adding that what is worse is for those security forces to contact some of the freed captives to summon them for interrogation.

He called on all those who get summonses, whether for participating in the celebrations or for being recently freed from occupation jails not to respond to those summonses.
