Fouad al-Amoudi, a witness to the attack, said, “The aircraft targeted the container which has tools for fishing with at least one missile, which destroyed it completely.”
Al-Amoudi added that the container belongs to Mohamad Mahmoud Abu Shamala. Israeli soldiers also arrested two fishermen, Mousa Ibrahim Abu Ziad and Ahmed Omar Nterah, and confiscated their fishing boat.
According to Hebrew radio, the air attack was in response to the firing of three Grad missiles from Gaza on Ashdod city and the town of Bani Ayesh. The three missiles fell on empty land, and no Palestinian group has taken responsibility for them as yet.
The Israeli Ha’aretz newspaper today reported that Hamas has smuggled Russian-made missiles looted from Libya into Gaza. Shoulder-mounted rocket launchers have also been smuggled into Gaza in recent years with Iranian support, according to Israeli intelligence sources.
