OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, the Mufti of Palestine, has warned that the Israeli plan of building a synagogue underneath the Buraq plaza west of the Aqsa mosque would threaten its very structure.

He said in a statement on Thursday that the digging would take place directly under the Buraq (Wailing) Wall and the western wall of the Aqsa.

Hussein charged that the proposal by the western wall rabbi Shmeul Rabinowitz to build a synagogue for women underneath the western wall was part of the Israeli attempt to Judaize the Buraq Wall and to wipe out the Arab and Islamic historical landmarks.

The Mufti urged the world community to put an end to the Israeli occupation authority’s aggression on the Aqsa mosque and to protect it in face of the Israeli threats.
