GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — Gaza’s ministry of interior called on Friday for all citizens who had been denied a passport to register for travel documents in the Gaza Strip.
Fair access to travel documents was a tenet of the reconciliation deal agreed between Fatah and Hamas last May. A Gaza-based committee representing those without passports said on Sunday that thousands were still without travel documents.
The ministry said all citizens needing a passport should register at Hamas-affiliated Change and Reform party’s offices in Gaza before Saturday at noon. Payment will be requested after the passport is issued, the ministry added.
