RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Dozens of Palestinian citizens and foreign activists were treated for breathing problems on Friday after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) fired gas bombs at peaceful protest marches in various West Bank areas.

Huge masses took part in a march in Nabi Saleh village near Ramallah following the Friday congregation in support of the Aqsa mosque.

Participants marched in the village streets and chanted slogans supporting the holy Aqsa mosque but when they approached its entrance they were faced by IOF soldiers who fired rubber bullets at them in addition to gas canisters and waste water.

Many were wounded by rubber bullets while others were treated for suffocation, local sources said, adding that the IOF troops then barged into the village and clashes escalated. They said that the soldiers occupied three homes and threatened its inhabitants.

IOF soldiers quelled another march in Ma’sara village near Bethlehem which rallied against the racist, separation wall and settlement expansion.

Speeches were delivered against the Jewish settlers’ repeated storming of the holy Aqsa mosque, and called on the world community to protect the Islamic and Christian holy shrines.

Hassan Brejiya, the head of the popular committee, told Quds Press that ten foreigners took part in the march that was heading to the village’s confiscated land but were stopped by Israeli border guards in nine armored vehicles.

Locals and foreign and Israeli peace activists were also treated on the field for breathing problems in Kafr Qaddoum village near Qalqilia as the Israeli army troops fired tear gas in abundance at the weekly peaceful rally.

Murad Eshtiwiye, the coordinator of marches in the village, said that this week’s rally was dedicated to the Aqsa mosque in protest at the Jewish settlers and Israeli soldiers’ violation of its sanctity.

Local sources pointed out that the IOF soldiers used water cannons to disperse the demonstration.

Dozens of locals and foreign activists were also treated for breathing difficulty in Bilin village’s weekly march against the racist, separation wall and settlement activity.

Local sources said that the IOF soldiers used rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters against the demonstrators wounding a reporter for Palestine TV and dozens of locals and foreigners.

The popular committee against the separation wall in the village said in a statement that the participants hoisted Palestinian flags and demanded national unity, release of prisoners, and freedom for Palestine.
