OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) deployed large numbers of policemen and border police in and around the occupied city of Jerusalem on Sunday turning the city into a large army barracks.
The policemen stopped Arab cars and asked for IDs after searching the vehicles.
A police spokesman said that the measures were in anticipation of more riots in the wake of the murder of a Palestinian youth in Ram town and the injury of 25 others.
Violent confrontations were reported on Saturday in a number of suburbs in Silwan town, south of the Aqsa mosque, during which the policemen fired tear gas and sonic bombs at the youths who retaliated throwing stones and firecrackers.
Five Palestinians were injured in similar confrontations at the entrance to the Shufat refugee camp to the east of occupied Jerusalem.
