Hamas condemns Israeli arrest of liberated prisoners

GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas has strongly condemned the Israeli practice of re-arresting prisoners who have been freed in the exchange deal between the movement and Israel under Egyptian patronage.

The movement said in a statement on Saturday that the arrest of those freed captives aims at weakening the morale of prisoners.

Hamas stressed its backing to the detainee Hana’a Shalabi who has been on hunger strike for more than two weeks to protest her re-arrest and later the administrative detention ruling against her.

The movement urged greater popular support with Shalabi, and asked Egypt, in its capacity as the patron of the deal, and human rights groups to immediately intervene and pressure Israel into releasing Shalabi whose life is at stake.
