AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has renewed the administrative detention of former minister of local government Issa Al-Ja’bari for fourth months for the third time running.

Ja’bari was arrested on 3/5/2011 from his home in Al-Khalil and was previously held by the IOA for 30 months for occupying the ministerial portfolio in the tenth Palestinian government formed by Hamas. He was earlier held for seven years in IOA jails.

The former minister has a BA in chemical engineering and another BA in Islamic Sharia.

The IOA has recently escalated its policy of administrative detention, which orders imprisonment of Palestinian citizens at the pretext of posing “threat” to Israel without trial or declared charges.

The IOA held 37 Palestinians under administrative detention in February and renewed the administrative custody of 54 others in the same month.
