AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Four Palestinians held in Israeli administrative custody, without charge or trial, have joined the hunger strike that was started by detainee Hana’a Shalabi 18 days ago, the prisoners’ studies center said in a statement on Sunday.
The center said that three of those detainees were affiliated with Islamic Jihad, similar to Shalabi, while the fourth is affiliated with Hamas.
It said that two of them started the hunger strike on Thursday while two others joined them on Saturday in rejection of administrative detention and in solidarity with Shalabi.
Meanwhile, the military court in Ofer is to sit on Sunday to discuss the Israeli intelligence’s secret files against Shalabi and then consider whether to release or to retain her behind bars.
Lawyer Jawad Bulous said that such summary hearings usually reject the defense’s request for releasing the defendant, recalling what happened to Khader Adnan under the same circumstances in the early stages of his hunger strike.
He said that the defense team demanded Shalabi’s immediate release after refuting all charges against her.
