IOA blackouts prisoners’ cells in Ofer

[ PIC 04/03/2012 – 09:59 AM ]

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Israeli administration of Ofer jail shut down power at the Palestinian prisoners’ rooms on Saturday despite the freezing weather.

A source in the jail said that the administration cut off electricity in the 12, 14, and 16 wards, which mostly group Hamas internees.

The source said that power was vital for prisoners as they could not cook without it or watch TV. He said that they are also deprived of heating with the electricity off.

He said that prisoners appealed to the Red Cross and human rights groups to intervene and put an end to such practice that is daily recurring.
